No Fields Found. How do you choose the best footfall counter for you?
Axiomatic’s range of footfall counters fall into two main categories; infra red beam break counters and overhead stereoscopic devices.
Working out what kind of footfall counter suits you best is something we can help with, but if you want some easy guidance on the things to consider when looking at footfall counters, we have compiled an easy guide to set out the considerations of each type of counter.
If you need a budget friendly range of counters to give you an idea of your footfall trends, our battery powered beam counters may fit the bill with a range of models to suit your budget.
If you prefer something more sophisticated with additional features, then our overhead 3D Video Counters could fit the bill.
If you have no power supply at the entrance, our beam counters use AA batteries for easy installation with no need for any additional infrastructure.
If you are able to provide a single cat5 cable, an overhead device will work for you.
The kind of entrance you want to monitor will determine the best sort of counter. If you have inward swing doors which may block a beam, an overhead counter may suit you better. Where you don’t have mounting surfaces either side of the door, an overhead counter fits better.
For very high ceilings, our overhead counters can be mounted at a maximum of 6m.
To tackle very wide entrances we can use multiple overhead units to span greater widths.

Are you happy to collect the data from the counter or do you prefer a centralised automated report? Our beam counters rely on manual collection, either by reading the data from the screen or transfer via USB stick.
Our overhead counters offer remote, automated reports so you can access them from your desktop or mobile device. We can provide you with our reporting dashboard or you can import the raw data into your own systems using our API.
Both our beam and overhead counter ranges include outdoor models with IP-rated housings, so work with multiple environments.
If you opt for a beam system, you need 2 mounting surfaces, facing each other with a clear line of sight in between.
For overhead units, you will need a mounting gantry.
Do you have very high footfall or do visitors linger and queue in the entrance? If so, overhead counters by design cope with more challenging visitor counting situations. Beam counters can count groups of people as one leading to less accurate results in very busy entrances.
Do your staff enter and leave through the entrances a significant amount meaning they are inflating the footfall figures? Or do they need to spend a lot of time in the entrance area? Our overhead counters filter out staff members wearing a special name tag, removing from the footfall figures.
If you have no networking and need a totally stand alone solution, our battery powered beam counters are a good fit.
If cabling is an issue, our overhead counters range has a WIFI enabled model, meaning all you need is a power supply nearby. Footfall data is transmitted on your WIFI, simplifying cabling.
