People counting devices are mounted on the ceiling just inside the entrance to a room or space. These track people as they enter and exit the area. It then feeds back this data to our intuitive reporting suite, as definitive evidence of how a space is being used.
Having a system in libraries to monitor space use can be of benefit to both students and staff. Students can view which floors or areas are busiest, and when. By using this data, staff can understand how a library is used. Which areas are most and least popular? Is there a big difference between library visitors and the number of books checked out? This kind of information allows decision makers to adapt to the overall university strategy – and to plan ahead.
Monitoring the footfall and live occupancy levels of Student’s Union bars or nightclubs provides valuable information on the use of these venues. Managers can use this performance data to schedule effective staff levels, and to manage occupancy limits during showings of live sport or other large events.
