Axiomatic has worked with the UK’s biggest tile specialist, rolling out a nationwide footfall counting system

Background

Topps Tiles PLC is Britain’s largest tile specialist with over 350 stores throughout the UK. They had recognised the benefits of monitoring customer numbers against sales and marketing data and had spent time researching and trialling a number of different solutions from various suppliers in many of their stores.

It was found that none were suitable for their needs with issues including accuracy, ease of gathering data and on-going support.

The Solution

Following initial conversations with Axiomatic, we assessed their requirements and were able to recommend the most suitable solution in the form of the Brickstream 2300 stereoscopic video footfall counter.

This particular type model of counter offered highly accurate performance and the ability to bring data from all sites back to a central location.

The counters were to be mounted from brackets above the entrances and connected to a central server situated at head office with Axiomatic providing automated raw footfall data for Topps to use within their own systems.

Trial

Axiomatic offered Topps the opportunity to trial a counter at the store based at their head office in Leicester.  This was installed by Axiomatic and left in place for 3 months to enable Topps to fully assess the data and Axiomatic as a company.

Installation

The counters were installed by Axiomatic engineers and each site presented different challenges with a variety of ceiling heights, ceiling types and door configurations.  These were tackled by our own engineers who are qualified to work at height, employing bracketry where necessary.

Reporting and Data

All counting devices send count and status data to a central server, which is also made available to Customer Service Managers at each interchange, and through Axiomatic’s PeopleCounted® Core reporting suite they can monitor and report on footfall at their respective interchanges.

Automatic data transfer, from highly accurate devices, has allowed SYPTE to make more informed decisions and focus on customer engagements activities.

Despite the challenges each Interchange had to offer, in terms of finding optimal locations for each device and cable routes Axiomatic was able to co-ordinate with other service providers to deliver the project in advance of the target completion date.
