Brent Council - Lexington Building

Axiomatic work with Brent Council to monitor occupancy at one of their high quality residential buildings

Brent Council

Background

The Lexington Building is owned and run by i4B Holdings Ltd – a company owned by Brent Council with the purpose of delivering affordable, high quality housing.

It is part of a scheme aimed at delivering affordable, high quality housing to key workers in the borough such as  teachers, NHS staff, and blue light service staff.

A design feature of the building is a roof terrace area, accessible to residents.  To comply with building regulations, there is a maximum occupancy limit on the terrace so it was important that the managament team at the Lexington Building had means to monitor this.

Also, residents needed to know whether or not there was capacity for them to access the terrace.

The Project

The technology decided upon was the Irisys Vector Time of Flight counter due to its excellent accuracy which lent itself well to occupancy counting.  With occupancy projetcs, it is vitally important the solution is as accurate as possible as errors accumulate as time goes on, leading to an increasingly incorrect occupancy count.

The system was installed on the entranceways to the building’s roof terrace area and gave users an indication of how busy the space was.

It provided amber and red warnings on occupancy versus capacity to the management team who could then take appropriate action.
